PROJECT DESCRIPTION
A city centre controlled and patrolled by troops, watched over by machine gun posts and snipers. The shops are boarded and deserted and 19,000 people have moved out to conduct their lives and business elsewhere. They have been displaced by just 500 people who have declared it their right to be there. They are guarded by 2,000 troops. Now and again shots ring out, sometimes more than a few. There are tragic consequences. In the ghost town of old Hebron only the dogs seem truly at ease.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
I have only ever passed through Paris - always going somewhere else until this winter. I had an idea that I would like to be there for New Year and explore the city a little and witness the passing into 2009 from there.

On December the 31st I found myself - a little belatedly, walking up the Champs Elysee with tens if not hundreds of thousands of others to join the collective throng. It was both lacking in event in one sense - nothing organised except the police and the clean up at 2 a.m. but also full of events - small moments, gatherings, spontaneous outbursts on the other.

So here is my little photographic document of three hours in the company of thousands of others!

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In June 2008 a group of young people from the Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem - children who live beneath the shadow of the separation wall - visited the UK. They came with their stories of living at the wrong end of guns pointed at them, the stun grenades and tear gas, the theft of their land and the demolition of their houses. They told of the 'accidents' where children are shot and the 'theft' of young people who disappear, without information, into the prisons of an occupying state. However, they brought so much more - the vitality and enjoyment of young people with something positive to say and the strength and determination to say it, through their performance, through their photography and their hopes and wishes for a just and peaceful future.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This series explores what happens when the pull of the crowd becomes more photographically enticing than what is happening on the stage.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The first of a series of images exploring aspects of street life in and around the central commercial and entertainment district of the city of Chongqing in South West China. This city is the fastest growing city in the world and embraces a mixed economy and cultural life which spans decades of difference in terms of style and engagement with the modern world. Many things and people seem curiously out of place one minute and perfectly natural against another backdrop fifty feet away. Illusion - not the smoke and mirrors of political obfuscation (alone) but also the philosophical sense of illusion named Maya from the Upanishads and other Indian texts. A materialistic dream developing day by day........drawing people in at an ever faster rate.......but it won't be for everyone...........
