Pure anthropomorphism here.  (Though I can see that everyone has a different interpretation of what's being expressed.)  To me it's an existential moment.  "Here I am.  What is the meaning of this life?  What happens next?"  I agree with Luis.  The use of the sky is inspired here, lending a spiritual, dramatic edge.

hello Simon

Je me délecte;-)

Wow, how expressive... in that yellowish cast, save for the two bikers behind, he looks like the last remnant on the earth, looking up with inquisitive almond eyes... an amazing work, again so touching and so humanoid, so old... perhaps that's why you have chosen this oldish cast?
ciao

This is incredible Simon. The way the monkey looks up with an intense "onirique" expression is amazing. And it completely justifies your composition choice. Leaving the half top section completely free of elements - other than air - was indeed a stroke of genius. That enhances even more the spirituality of the photo. The monkey is really praying to God. What a gaze you captured here...

I would rather call that an "indecisive moment" ;o) Pauvre bete. J'adore ton titre, Simon! Sorry I should really stick to ENglish, shouldnt I?Well I really dig your yellowish, brown tonalities to which you alone have the secret. You're he Chef! Yeah...;o)

hi simon, so you got fed up of the dogs now :-)? turning out to be a great series, monkeys in an urban setting shot with a short lens! you ever got attacked? an appropriate title for the project, strange how, as you said these guys don't seem to be happy at all.. maybe they're all waiting for the big monkey festival, i'm sure that would be a different story...

What a perfect "decisive moment"!  Thought is hardly the prerogative of us humans.  Who can say now that monkeys don't dream. And you timed this beautifully. Moreover, the composition is great with the bus and truck behind. Beautiful color as usual. Excellent series.
