The Remains of the Day

He was an old, elegant waiter in an old, elegant restaurant... as I saw him, I imagined him having served there for the past half a century, judging from his dignified demeanour and the poise with which he was attending to the guests. I wondered how many secret glances and whispers he must have been inadvertently let in while pouring wine to the glimmering glasses of worshipped paramours, dejected lovers, devious party commissars and mysterious concubines throughout the decades...
"In my philosophy, Mr. Benn, a man cannot call himself well-contented until he has done all he can to be of service to his employer. Of course, this assumes that one's employer is a superior person, not only in rank, or wealth, but in moral stature."
-- Stevens, the aging butler of Darlington Hall
(from Kazuo Ishiguro: The Remains of the Day)

What a beautiful photograph Sarolta. Full of emotions especially with your words. Very delicate and sensitive / 'respect'. Love the ethereal side of this photo which adds another dimension. We croos the time. Simply great / touching. "No surprises" to have this kind of great photograph from you. Congratulations and thank you.
Have a good day Sarolta.

Really, what words can I add...I love the photo, I love the texture and the glimmering orbs of light. The mans hands; what words are said with ten fingers...

Sublime picture with a very beautifoul and foul of feeling commentary. A perfect job, usual in your pictures.

Hasta la vista,

Brilliant take! Through the oof glass-ware and light he seems nearly encircled in his work.  Beautiful tonality.  Beautiful commentary too!

Yes, there's everything we are looking for a photo in this one. A story comes first, but then the perfect geometry of your composition impeccably splitting your frame into thirds reminds us we're into the photographic field, not to forget the dramatic chiaroscuro lighting that calls for a confession of a lifetime, finally a moody viennese chocolate, foaming abundantly in the foreground, wraps up the final touch for a dreamy effect.

Even though you posted so many impressive shots those last years, I can clearly state this is one of your best shots ever Sasa.
