Have uploaded the 20th shot of Shadow Play, my second project on Holik.
I don't recall how to make it "completed" on the site. If you read this, please let me know
thanks

I decided to close my project: The Atlantic Light
I guess 12 pictures is enough. Holik is not prepared for this type of projects right now...
I'll quit for now also. I still be coming once in a while to see what you're up to, but I think that this site has no place for me right now. It's still too narrow minded, let's put it that way. I'll return when the number of members allows a greater diversity in the content.
Thanks to all that dared to leave a comment on the project/photos.
Stay safe, l.

Right now I am completely devoted to landscape photography. I decided that I can't do both, street and nature. If I do both I will be mediocre in both... If I follow one direction, maybe I can achieve some decent results. And I've chose landscapes. Now, Holik is not prepared for this type of photography yet. Look at the comments I received and you will understand. I have some photos with zero comments... It's not easy for the people who are right now on the site to comment this type of pictures and I understand that. The majority of the people here are too focused on street photography (or similar genres) and think that landscapes are a weaker genre that exists only to sell postcards (even if an Ansel Adams quote in the front page of this site says the opposite...). Or they simply don't care for it which is completely OK. I love you guys and I love some of the work here, and I will return every week to see what you're up to. But right now, I don't have any motivation to share what I am doing here simply because I'll get no feedback from you. Diversity isn't still one of the keys of the site... (will it ever be?)
So please don't take my decision personally. It's nothing against anyone. It's just my decision for the moment. I will not close the door, I'll left it unlocked... But I really think you should open this to more people. Different people... If that's your ambition, of course.
Stay safe, l.

Hola Luis!
I'm not happy to read your note, it's sad to lost you. It's true that there are a lot of street pictures here, but there are also many landscapes on this site: me for exemple, I have two projet only for this "Lights and shadows over the mountains" and "Sunlights over the river", and there is also Belibaste with his "ciel des nouages", or petitescargot with "A new world" or Partha with "Transportation in India" where we can see some landscapes...
I hope you will think about it, and you will follow to post your great landscapes. I think that you have to post more, it must to became something more usual, I will follow you with it.
At the same time I will try to comment your projet. I think it's a very nice projet, with a perfect control of lights and colours, as the composition. But at my point of view is a little repetitive in some of the pictures. May be is for this reason that there are some of the pictures without comment. I'm agree that this is not easy to share one picture, and not recive any comment; I have some pictures like this, but we must go on!
I hope you read this message and you change your decision.
Don't hesitate to reply.

Hasta la vista,

Javier

Yep, Luis, you are right, many photographers here are focusing on street shooting. But I'd like this site could host all kinds of pics ; I've tried with race cars, it was not a big success either
Sick...

But don't give up, you're not alone ! If the landscape photographers go away from here, how to promote that kind of photography ? We are still searching better for ways for promoting pics. Today we often only comment th emost recent pics, but in the near future we'll try to promote pics by theme, or smth like that. We don't want photoholik to be restrictive. Yes, today we need to improve that, but things are changing step by step.

Keep the door open

i am sorry but i dont share your opinion.

Photoholik is open to any kind of picture, we never said "photoholik is only for street photographer". you can see some landscap pictures on the site, also some member have made graphic project also.

I am sorry also to say this, but your experience to some other site, should remind you something, that when we are not active, people forget.
I dont like this, but my experience teached me this.
Your last comment was 2 month ago. I guess this is how work a community Luis .

remember also that the site is young less than one year, we have done alot work to open it, and we will.
we could be more than 300 members if the site were open. But we decided to make it private because we care about the quality.
You Know Luis a community work when people play the game... I think that it is as in the life we receive what we give.

Done with my project An Evening With Animesh.

Sorry to hear about your problems Luis, I think diversity in photography is absolutely neccessary...I've tried to cover some different bases. True most are people photography, but I had the project about the house...just started another landscape...etc. Anyway, come back when you're more comfortable.
